Hiking/Spirit FHE

(March 25, 2014)

We had such a fabulous family home evening today!!!  We went on a hike and Cory did a fabulous lesson!!!

The kids are SO excited for the first hike of the season!!!!

 This was Alexis' first time NOT sitting in the hiking carrier.  Taya was watching out for her so she wouldn't fall off!

 We were going to stop at the pond to eat our lunch and have the lesson but it was covered in bees, hundreds of them!!!  So we kept going just a little bit and found this spot we thought we would perfect..and it was until the bees smelled the food!!!

We headed over to Cory's brother's house to use his big trees so we could finish the lesson.

 There was a rope (the iron rod) set up from one tree to the other.  They had one hand on the person in front of them and one hand on the rod.  I was the quiet voice of the Spirit telling them which way to go and encourage them on the right path.  Cory was the loud, distracting voice of Satan bribing and tricking them to follow him instead.

It started off okay but pretty quickly Satan had tempted Taya to follow him so she could get a new bike!  Taya leaving led some others away for a second but they returned rather quickly.  Taya ended up following him for a bit until she grabbed a hold of the rod again and arrived at the tree the same time as everyone else!!

 It was a great lesson because we talked about how to listen to the Spirit and follow it.  We were able to talk about how our influence and the influence of friends around us can lead us astray or towards Christ. (Taya leaving for a bit). We were also able to discuss the Atonement and how it is there to help us if we make mistakes, like Taya did for a minute.  We are never lost and can always come back to Him!  Perfect FHE!!!
